Artist Statement
I am an interdisciplinary artist from Taiwan. I am interested in humanity’s relationship to Nature on a universal level, as well as cultural and individual levels. I position my body in my surrounding environment in order to explore relationships between identity, Nature and human-made environment. When I interact with Nature, I begin to understand myself. Audiences also witness this positioning of my body and are perhaps challenged to identify and question divisions between their own bodies and the environment.
My art is my love story with the earth. I practice building a relationship to get closely acquainted with my inmost nature and external environment on the grounds that I wish myself to live ecologically. My performance art represents both my physical and spiritual intimacy with the environment, and the mundane, ecstatic, and difficult parts of these relationships. It shows a mirror of my relationship with other people. I connect my performance art to the environment to explore and express human intimacy with the earth and our ecology.
